We arrived!

After an early morning flight out of DC and a connection in Houston, we made it to Costa Rica...it was humid and rainy when we arrived. The girls enjoyed the ride from the airport, but I think all the guys bypassed the scenery for conversation.

After checking in, we went outside to explore a little since we had a few hours to kill. We decided to separate by ladies and guys (except I went with the guys)..I'm not sure what they got into, but we mostly walked around and practiced using the dollar to colon exchange rate. We scarfed down some taco bell, bought some drinks at a supermarket (Pepsi in a glass bottle), window shopped, and got scared by a homeless man that blended in to his surroundings really well. Overall, the boys weren't too impressed with San Jose. Justin said it reminded him of New York and was distrustful of almost everything and Victor and Griffin both said it looked like it was falling apart. Jared insisted on calling the currency pesos and colognes. Griffin didn't like the smoke and exhaust. I don't think the city was that bad, but it was a bit grimy. It'll be interesting to see what the ladies did and thought of the city.

Ian and Colin are sharing their room with two other kids and for a little while the other four boys were going to have to share a twin and three in a king sized bed...they weren't that thrilled about that one :-) but lucky for them, we are the first ones here so I was able to get them to change theirnroom with someone who hasn't come here yet.

Dinner is at 7 and we were advised to go to bed early because we need to be ready at 6:15 tomorrow for the volcano tour ... We'll see how the morning goes!

  3. No, problem! I figured this might be a nice way for you to keep updated. I just wish I could post pictures too...we met Chris today in the evening. He was just coming off another tour and is still our guide. It looks like we have only 36 people for a 50 person tour so that's nice!

  4. I am glad your sharing this blog. I called Victor before dinner, and he didn't say that much about the city as usual.
